Welcome to the delicious world of cheese! If you’re new to it, don’t worry – everyone starts somewhere, and cheese is one of the most joyful foods to explore. At M&T, we’re here to make it easy, tasty, and fun.
🌾 Lactose? Gluten? And for a veggie diet ?
- Most cheeses have very little lactose, so no worries for digestion. Lactose is degraded in the maturing process
- Cheese is naturally gluten‑free
- Cheese is considered vegetarian-friendly, as it is just derived from animals
👶 Is cheese safe for pregnant women or kids?
- Pregnant women and young kids should avoid raw‑milk soft cheeses or raw-milk blue cheeses
- Hard cheeses at M&T are heat‑treated and safe
- Pasteurised cheeses are fine.
- When in doubt, ask our staff, they will be glad to help !
Cheese & global nutrition : key advantages
- High-quality protein — Hard cheeses provide concentrated complete proteins that support muscle maintenance, satiety, and metabolic health.
- Rich in calcium — They are among the most calcium‑dense foods, essential for bone strength, nerve function, and long‑term skeletal health.
- Vitamin K2 content — Many aged cheeses naturally contain K2, which helps direct calcium to bones rather than arteries, supporting cardiovascular health.
- Probiotics & fermentation — Traditional hard cheeses often contain beneficial bacteria that support gut health and improve digestion.
- Lower lactose levels — Hard cheeses are naturally very low in lactose, making them easier to digest for people with lactose sensitivity.
